About the Program

The Graduate Program in Applied Immunology and Parasitology (PPIPA) at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) was recommended by CAPES in 1991. Since then, it has grown and become one of Brazil’s leading graduate programs, recognized with the highest score (7) by CAPES, certifying its international excellence.

History

  • 1991: Academic Master’s Degree recommended by CAPES.

  • 1992: Start of the Master’s Program.

  • 1997: Official recognition by CNE/MEC (Ordinance No. 490).

  • 2000: Academic Doctorate recommended by CTC-ES, with activities beginning the same year.

  • 2012: Master’s and Doctorate officially approved by CNE/MEC (Ordinance No. 1077).

  • 2019: Recognition renewed by MEC (Ordinance No. 609).

  • 2021: Program awarded CAPES Score 7.

Mission

To prepare human resources capable of independently conducting advanced research in Applied Immunology and Parasitology, as well as in related biomedical fields. PPIPA aims to foster new groups in research, teaching, outreach, and innovation, expanding its influence both nationally and internationally.

Infrastructure

PPIPA offers:

  • A dedicated administrative team, classrooms, meeting rooms, and defense rooms.

  • Rodent Center (REBIR-UFU) for animal breeding and experimentation.

  • Affiliation with the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBIM/UFU), involving 28 laboratories equipped with flow cytometry, advanced molecular biology, microscopy centers, and other high-level technologies.

This ensures strong support for high-quality research and innovation.
